| On Friday, 02/20/2026 at approximately 1506 hours—shortly after responding to a confirmed vehicle fire—the West Islip Fire Department was activated for a reported residential structure fire in the area of Gladstone Ave and Fourth St.
A Bay Shore Fire Department Ex-Chief who was in close proximity to the incident arrived on scene and confirmed a smoke condition within the structure to responding units.
Upon arrival, 1st Assistant Chief Mike Delgado and first-due crews investigated and located a fire in a first-floor bedroom toward the rear of the residence. Chief Delgado quickly transmitted a Working Fire assignment, bringing in mutual aid departments to assist at the scene and to stand by for the remainder of the district. Crews had hose lines stretched and immediately began primary searches. Additional arriving crews assisted with secondary searches and overhaul operations.
The fire was brought under control in approximately 10 minutes. All searches were negative, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Town of Islip Fire Marshal’s Office.
